In The Event of a Death

Helping you to cope with the bereavement of a loved one

You can contact Tim and Lyn at Burgess Hill Family Funeral Services by phone, 24 hours a day, to support you in your time of need. We are here to provide assistance when a loved one passes away, ensuring that the service you receive is caring and personal at all times.

If the death occurs at home then you must contact your local family doctor, who will come to your home to certify the death and they will issue you with a Medical Certificate. Once this has been done most families prefer their loved on to be taken to a chapel of rest, this can be arranged with us over the phone at any time of the day or night.

If the death occurs in a residential home or hospital, they will arrange for the Medical Certificate certifying the death to be completed and should advise you where and when you can collect it. With your permission, they can also contact us to arrange for your loved one to be brought to our chapel of rest.

In the event of a sudden or unexpected death, the removal of the deceased with be attended by the Police on behalf of the Coroner, and the deceased will be taken to the public mortuary. The Coroner will be informed of the death and they will assess whether a post-mortem is required to gain the cause of death. Once this process has been completed you can contact us to proceed with the funeral arrangements.

If you have lost a loved one and need to discuss the funeral arrangements, contact Burgess Hill Family Funeral Services. We serve West Sussex and the surrounding areas.
